Happy Birthday Canada!!

Last Tuesday there was Canada's Birthday! It was "Canada Day", Canada's national day. At July 1st, 1867 the British colonies and the Province of Canada joined into a federation of four provinces and a "new" Canada was born.

I worked only half a day and then went downtown to see how the Canadians celebrate this holyday. It was a hot day and people enjoyed the sun and listened to a live band that was playing on a small stage. Many of them just jumped into the water basin that is located at this town square.

In the evening I went to the Edmonton Legislature Building. Near this building at the High Level Bridge I could gaze at the "Great Divide Waterfall". It is the world's first man-made waterfall. It drops 45 metres from the top of the bridge into the North Saskatchewan River below.
There where thousands of people linger around all waiting for the great firework at midnight.

The firework was nice but then it took naerly one hour to get off of the parking lot because everyone at once wanted to go home.
